IQNA – Major General Mohammad Baqeri, the chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, announced that Iran’s retaliatory strike on occupied territories had concluded, warning of a “stronger” reaction if the Israeli regime responds.

“We see this operation as concluded and there is no intention to continue it,” he told the national TV on Sunday morning, however, warning that Iran would launch a “bigger” operation in case the Israeli regime inside the Iranian soil or its affiliated centers in Syria or elsewhere.

His remarks came hours after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched extensive missile and drone strikes against the occupied territories in response to Israel’s deadly attack on the Iranian diplomatic premises in Syria early this month.

Baqei said that the operation was a punishment for the regime, noting that it only targeted military sites and capabilities that played a role in launching the April 1 attack against the Iranian consulate building in Damascus.

“The reason for this operation was the crossing of [Iran’s] red line by the Zionist regime, which cannot be tolerated in any way for us,” he stressed.

“We were capable of launching tens of times bigger missile and drone operation but we did not and we tried to carry it out in the limit of a punishment,” the top commander added.

Major General Hossein Salami, IRGC’s first-in-command, also spoke with national TV on Sunday, warning that a “much harsher” response awaits the Israeli regime in case it launches any attack on Iran.

“The Zionist regime must stop its past behavior and learn from this [attack]. If the Zionist regime shows any response, our reaction will certainly be much harsher based on this new experience we have gained from their capabilities,” Salami said on Sunday.

“From now on, if the Zionist regime attacks our interests, assets, figures, and citizens at any point, it will face counterattack from within the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he added.
