The competition is among the most prestigious Quranic events in East Africa, organized annually by the KhidmatulQuran Institute.

It is a non-profit Islamic institute that works to promote the Quranic culture and teachings in Tanzania.

In addition to organizing Quran competitions, the institute invites top Quranic figures and qaris to Tanzania to attend Quranic programs in the country.

Last year, prominent Egyptian qari Mahmoud Shahat Anwar was invited to Tanzania by the institute to recite the Quran at different programs.
