Nazir Ayyad, head of Al-Azhar’s Islamic Studies Center, said the meeting was held in line with Al-Azhar’s responsibility as the body in charge of supervising the printing and distribution of Qurans.
He said Al-Azhar is tasked with preventing any distortion in the copies of the Holy Quran, Ad-Dustur website reported.
He said the Islamic Studies Center fully controls the process of printing and publishing the Quran with a specialized committee comprising Quranic sciences experts from the Quran Faculty of Al-Azhar University.
He said that during the recent meeting between Al-Azhar officials and members of the publishers association, the two sides agreed to expedite the process of granting Quran publication permissions.
In recent years, there have been many problems in printing the Quran in Egypt with some printed copies containing minor errors and typos.
Also, some copies have been printed after the expiration of their printing permission while some have been printed unofficially without obtaining any permission.
