The Ash-Shams Institute has used astronomical calculations to reach this conclusion.

According to those calculations, the crescent moon of Ramadan will be observable on the evening of Sunday, March 10, 2024.

Hence, Monday, March 11, 2024, will be the first day of the holy month, the institute said, Iqra News reported.

It added that Ramadan will last for 30 days in 2024 as the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal (a lunar Hijri month that comes after Ramadan) can be observed on the evening of Monday, April 9.

Therefore, Tuesday, April 10, will be the first day of Shawwal, which marks Eid al-Fitr, the institute said.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.
