Sajjad Hashem, an official with the Astan’s engineering and technical department, said the project is being implemented in a plot of land measuring 68,000 square meters in area.
He said Dar-ol-Quran center is being built in the Haya al-Abbas district in the northern part of the holy city.
He added that the building will have 9 stories, and that each story has been designed to serve for a specific purpose.
The building of the Dar-ol-Quran center is among the activities launched at the order of Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalayi, the representative of top Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.

The activities are aimed at helping to raise a generation based on the teachings of the Holy Quran and the school of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
They have significantly contributed to the elevation of religious awareness and promotion of Quranic teachings in different provinces of Iraq.
