Afghan Qari Wins Top Award of Katara Prize

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Afghan qari has gained the first rank in the 6th Katara Prize for Quran Recitation which was held this Ramadan in Qatar.

 

The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara announced the names of the winners of the first three places in the 6th Katara Prize for Quran Recitation.

The first prize was won by Muhammad Hassan Hassan Zadeh from Afghanistan, with a value of QR500,000, while the second prize was won by Ahmed Jamal Al Mansrawi from Iraq, who received QR300,000, and the third prize winner is Abdul Razeq Ashraf Salah Al Shahawy from Egypt, who won QR100,000.

Muhammad Hassan Hassan Zadeh, the first-place winner, said that winning the Katara Prize for Quran Recitation is a great honour for him, given the international reputation the award enjoys. He also noted that the competition is his first participation in an international contest.

Ahmed Jamal Al Mansrawi, second place winner, said that all those who qualified for the final stage of the contest are all winners. He indicated that this award was distinguished by good organisation, and that the stages of competition were very difficult, and no one can pass it unless he is good at reciting the Holy Quran.

Abdel Razek Ashraf Salah Al Shahawy, third placer, expressed his pride in obtaining the award, which includes readers from all Arab and Islamic countries, expressing his deep thanks to those in charge of this award, which was characterised by perfection and accuracy in all stages of competition, and was also distinguished by attracting a jury of all Its members are experienced in judging international recitation competitions.

For their part, the jury members of the contest said that the sixth edition is the most distinguished, due to the diversity of its participants, which included all Arab and Islamic countries.

Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al Maasrawi said that the Katara Prize for Quran Recitation is witnessing progress year after year, pointing out that the sixth edition of the award was marked by strong competition because the levels of most of the participants were close, whether in intonation or melodic performance.
