TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Lebanese university professor highlighted the achievements of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, which achieved victory in February 1979, saying it created profound and structural changes, evolution and developments in the world.

Bilal al-Laqis

Bilal al-Laqis, an academic and member of Hezbollah resistance movement’s political council, made the remark in international webinar held on Wednesday.

It was organized by the International Quran News Agency under the title of “Islamic Revolution Discourse in Process of Evolution”.

Al-Laqis said the Islamic Revolution of Iran developed the understanding and views of Muslim nations and the world’s oppressed.

This is an important point and that is why (the arrogant powers) see the revolution as a great threat and hatch plots to weaken Iran and tarnish its image in the region and the world, he stated.

What the Islamic Republic did, he said, was raising the number of people’s choices and invalidating the unilateralism and hegemony of the West and the United States that has been imposed on nations since the First World War.

“This is a very important issue that has given great acceptability and legitimacy to Iran in Arab and Muslim nations”.

Al-Laqis further highlighted the power of the Islamic Republic in the face of enemies, saying the West, led by the United States, defeated the former Soviet Union after four decades of Cold War. However, the West has made every effort in countering Iran and its values and objectives for more than four decades and failed, he added.

It is amazing that after four decades, the Islamic Revolution not only foiled all the schemes and conspiracies of the West but has managed to become stronger and have a more powerful presence in the world, he said.

According to the scholar, this is despite the fact that the war waged on Iran has been a smart war in which all soft, semi-hard and hard strategies have been used.

In the current sensitive times, he said, it seems that the Islamic Republic of Iran has maintained its position as the greatest regional power and experts and analysts believe that the country is using the world situation and developments to preserve its status and international power.

“We can see Iran’s power in the predicament and chaos that the Zionists are going through and in the developments that have led to the elevation of the resistance in the occupied territories. The Zionists believe that the Islamic Republic’s discourse has had a significant effect on the power of resistance in the West Bank,” he stated.

Al-Laqis went on to say that Iran’s status is not limited to its economic, political, strategic or military role like many other countries, but what matters is that the Islamic Republic seeks to promote values in the world and enhance the culture of resistance.

Other speakers at the online seminar were Iranian president’s advisor in seminary affairs Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Haj-Abolghasemi, Iran’s deputy minister of defense Brigadier General Seyyed Mahdi Farahi, and Nigerian activist and wife of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.

It was held ahead of the 44th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, which will be marked on Saturday, February 11.

Millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations in February every year marking the anniversary of the victory of the revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 44 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
