TEHRAN (IQNA) – The names of best Qaris participating in Iran’s national Quran contest who have been selected by popular votes were announced by the organizers.

The 43rd edition of the contest was held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the participants’ performances recorded to be evaluated later.

The evaluation process concluded earlier this month and the panel of judges announced the winners in different categories.

As for the Qaris, there was also a popular vote for people to select the best ones.

According to the popular vote, Kazem Azarpira from Khuzestan Province, Yusuf Jafarzadeh from Hormozgan and Ali Reza Masihpour from Kohkiluyeh and Boyerahmad were the best Qaris of this year’s edition.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s national Quran competition is annually held with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.

It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.

The categories of the contest include memorization, recitation and interpretation of the Quran.
