TEHRAN (IQNA) – Jordan’s foreign ministry condemned the Zionist regime’s continued violations at Al Aqsa Mosque.

Daifallah Fayez, a foreign ministry spokesperson, described the reckless provocations that are made with the support of the Zionist regime officials as a violation of international law and the legal and historical status quo, which breach Israel’s obligations as the occupying power in Jerusalem Al-Quds.

He called on Israeli authorities to put an immediate end to such violations, Al-Rai daily reported.

Fayez stressed that Al Aqsa Mosque, with its total area of 144 dunums, is a place of worship for Muslims only, reiterating that the Jordan-run Jerusalem Al-Quds Awqaf and Aqsa Affairs Department, in accordance with international law, is exclusively authorized to supervise the holy site’s affairs and manage entries.

He also denounced the recent demolition of the wall of the “Martyrs' cemetery” in the eastern part of Al Yousifieh cemetery.

The spokesman further called on the international community to pressure the Zionist regime to stop its violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and in the holy city of Jerusalem al-Quds.
