TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Hamas spokesman has hailed the recent Gaza-launched operation as a “new chapter” in confrontation against Israeli occupiers.

Khaled Al-Qaddumi

Operation Al-Aqsa Flood has opened a new chapter in the history of confrontation against the Zionist regime in the Palestinian land,” Khaled Al-Qaddumi told IQNA on Sunday.

Armed forces of the Hamas resistance movement launched on Saturday a large-scale attack against the Israeli-occupied lands using thousands of rockets as well as ground forces.

“This operation was a turning point in the confrontation with the Zionist regime,” Qaddumi said.

“We had no such victories against the Zionist enemy before this operation,” the Hamas representative said, adding that they came as the Israeli regime was boasting its army as “invincible” and had the support of all arrogant powers of the world.

More than 700 Israelis have been killed and above 2,000 others injured in the attack, according to Israeli media. Meanwhile, more than 410 Palestinians have been killed and 2,300 others injured in Gaza during Israeli air raids.

“Heads of the regime acknowledge that they have been surprised and Israeli analysts admit that they are facing troops of Palestinian fighters who have surpassed all security and military barriers,” he added.

He also noted that the Israeli regime has committed numerous crimes in the past decades, including the desecration of the al-Aqsa Mosque among other sacred places.

“The equation of power has changed and resistance is both capable and vigilant and it can do whatever it wishes,” he stressed.

Messages of operation Al-Aqsa Flood

The “most important” message of the operation, Qaddumi maintained, was for the occupation regime who saw that “resistance can enter their homes.”

Another message was for the international community to let you them know that “we have tolerated the Israeli oppression for years as they have supported the Zionist regime for decades without helping us secure our rights; they failed to implement international laws in the issue of Palestine,” he lamented.

The operation also carried another message to those countries who have joined the normalization deals with the regime, he said, adding, “We tell them that the Abraham accords have failed.”
