A total of 100 qaris from different countries will take part in the round of the competition, whose motto is “Zayyin al-Quran bi-Aswatikum (adorn the Quran with you voice), raya.com reported.
It is annually organized by the Katara Cultural Village with the support of Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
The panel of judges selected the finalists from 11 Arab and 11 non-Arab countries, including Morocco, Algeria, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya and Mauritania.
The number of finalists from non-Arab countries is 30 this year, showing an increase compared to the previous edition.
Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation, believes that it shows the Quran is for all people regardless of their nationality and language,
