TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said Bahrain has actually demonstrated its complicity in crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the Palestinians by appointing its first ambassador to Israel.

"The appointment of an ambassador of the Bahraini regime to the Zionist entity reflects its insistence on the national sin that it committed when it signed the normalization agreement with the occupation," Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said on Wednesday.

Qassem noted that the move represents Bahrain’s “clear support” for Israel’s policies against the Palestinians and its “full complicity” in the crimes committed by Tel Aviv, Press TV reported.

Khaled Yousif al-Jalahmah, who was named as Bahrain’s first envoy to Israel in March, arrived in the occupied territories on Tuesday.

Sheikh Hussain al-Daihi, the deputy secretary general of Bahrain's dissolved al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, said the new ambassador only represents the Bahraini regime and not the nation.

“We say to al-Jalahmah, you represent yourself and the one who sent you only, and you don’t represent Bahrain,” the sheikh tweeted.

“Bahrain will remain on the side of Palestinians and your normalization is a betrayal and shame.”

In September 2020, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates signed controversial normalization agreements with Israel at the White House amid outrage across Palestine and elsewhere throughout the Muslim world at the Arab regimes’ sheer betrayal of the Palestinian cause.

The normalization trend has, however, been uniformly panned by all Palestinian people and factions as well as the Bahraini public.
