Memorizers from 65 Countries to Attend Int’l Quran Contest in Dubai

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 26th edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award will get underway in the UAE city on Friday.

Quran memorizers from 65 countries will be competing in the Quranic event, according to WAM news agency.

The Culture and Science Symposium Hall in al-Mamzar district of Dubai will host the competition.

On the first day of the event today, representatives from Afghanistan, Somalia, Jordan, Britain and Kenya will showcase their Quranic skills before the panel of judges.

The contenders are required to read from memory the verses specified by the panel. They should recite the verses in the Hafs from Asim narration.

The competition’s panel of arbiters comprises Quran experts from the host country as well as Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

The Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) is annually organized in the holy month of Ramadan.

Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and DIHQA chairman, recently said the Quranic event has an excellent level compared to other international Quran contests.
