TEHRAN (IQNA) – Algeria’s Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs has established a special committee for organizing the country’s National Quran Week.

Youssef Belmahdi, the minister of Awqaf and religious affairs, in a decree appointed members of the committee for the 2022 National Quran Week programs, En-Nahar website reported.

In a meeting of related officials, Belmahdi underlined the need for efforts to best organize the programs.

Algeria annually holds the National Quran Week that includes various events and programs such as competitions on Quran memorization, Tajweed and interpretation as well as Quranic circles.

The motto of last year’s National Quran Week was “Love for Homeland, Ethical Dimension and National Commitment”.

The Algerian army’s national club in the capital Algiers hosted the week’s main programs.

Algeria is a country in North Africa. Muslims make up about ninety-nine percent of the country's population.
