President Thanks Iranian Nation for Massive Turnout in Election
In a message on Saturday, Rouhani said the epic presence of the people in the polls would disappoint the enemies and ill-wishers of Iran.
He said it showed that the nation has emerged victorious in the front of struggle with the enemies.
The president also praised the Iranian people for the steadfastness in the face of the economic war and pressures of the adversaries.
He expressed hope that the outcome of the great participation of the nation in the election would be the Islamic Iran’s progress.
Iran’s Interior Ministry said Saturday morning that Ebrahim Raeisi has garnered over 17.8 million votes out of more than 28.6 million ballots with more than 90% of the votes counted.
The 13th presidential election was held simultaneously with the 6th City and Village Councils elections, midterm elections for the 5th Assembly of Experts, and midterm elections for the 11th Parliament.
