TEHRAN (IQNA) – A top Muslim scholar stressed the need for strengthening solidarity in the Islamic Ummah during the holy month of Ramadan to counter the enemies.

Sheikh Ali al-Qaradaghi, the Secretary-General of the International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS), in a recorded speech provided to IQNA, said Ramadan is a good opportunity to act upon the commandments of God in promoting unity and solidarity.

Islamic solidarity is a divine commandment as God says in the Quran: “And hold fast to the Bond of Allah, together, and do not scatter” (Surah Al Imran, Verse 103).

He also cited verse 2 of Surah Al-Maida “And cooperate in righteousness and warding off (evil), and do not cooperate in sinfulness and transgression,” and said God has ordered all Muslims to cooperate with one another.

Sheikh Qaradaghi added that cooperation and unity are a must to counter the enemies of Islam.

It can be achieved through Taqwa (God-fearing), Ikhlas (purity of intention) and Tawheed, he went on to say.
