The recent war in Gaza had a highly theatrical aspect to it, an American political analyst said.

"There is no question that the kidnappings and murders (of teenage settlers) said to precipitate mass arrests and collective punishment was staged by elements of the Likudists and police in Israel," Gordon Duff, a senior editor at Veterans Today, told IQNA.

"Israel had assumed they could manipulate the press as before.  They were wrong.  In fact, those government officials who have stood by Israel have been burned by this."

He described Gaza as the "convenience" that allows Israel to exist, keep focus off the West Bank and their illegal occupation and to manipulate their own people.
"Gaza also allows Israel to openly manipulate and manage the government of Egypt as a colony under the guise of cooperation on the Oslo accords."
Regarding the anti-Israeli demonstrations in the world, Duff said broad participation in demonstrations against Israeli violence means that the mainstream media and corrupt government officials have lost control of "the narrative".

Asked whether political and economic isolation of Israel can put an end to Tel Aviv’s atrocities, he said, "whether it is successful or not, it is participation in justice.  Doing what is right, even if it yields no results, is an inexorable path for any righteous person".
Duff further highlighted the responsibility of international bodies to stand up against Israeli crimes. "It is time every charge possible is filed with the ICC (International Court of Justice) by every possible interested party and then, when it fails to act, the ICC is destroyed.

"Similarly, the UN General Assembly needs to bring about member votes.  Those nations that are obviously blackmailed or bribed need to be brought to pay.  When the UN Security Council fails to follow through, a demand for UN reform needs to be enacted.  The permanent members of the UNSC need to be removed."
