TEHRAN (IQNA) – Asma Fadi Adra who is representing Norway in the women’s section of Iran’s International Quran Competition said she likes the Quran recitation style of Egyptian Qari Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil al-Husari.

Speaking to IQNA, Adra said she also listens to other Qaris from the Arab country, noting that all Egyptian Quran masters are prominent in recitation and each has his own style.

Asked about her Quranic activities, the 25-year-old said she started learning the Quran by heart at an early age.

“I spent some seven years to that end and managed to memorize the entire Quran at the age of 12 with my father’s help.”

After that, she went to a Quranic center and received a Quran memorization certificate.

Adra, who is originally from Lebanon, said her father is the imam of a mosque and active in Quranic programs and activities.

As for her participation in international Quranic events, she said that it is the second international Quran contest she attends.

“Before this, I took part in the Dubai international Quran competition and, thank God, won the fifth rank.”

She also hailed the high level of Iran’s Quranic contest for women and said it is being held on par with the one in Dubai.

Adra further appreciated Iranians’ hospitality and the good organization of the competition.

The women’s section of Iran’s 35th International Quran Competition got underway in Tehran on Saturday.

28 Quran memorizers from 28 countries are taking part in this year’s edition.

According to the organizers, 14 Quran experts, 9 from Iran and 5 from other countries, form the panel of judges.

Winners of the three top ranks will be awarded at the closing ceremony on Wednesday.
