TEHRAN (IQNA) – Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (known as Diyanet) is currently working on translation of the Holy Quran into 27 languages, an official announced.

According to Turkeya al-Aan website, Yildray Qablan said the move is aimed at serving Muslims in the world who speak different languages.

The official, who heads the foreign languages department in Diyanet’s publications center, added that some 400 translators are working with Diyanet in the project.

Back in December, Diyanet announced completion of Quran rendering into four languages.

They include Bulgarian, Uzbek and two African native languages, Chewa and Shona, it said.

With its ‘No languages without Quran’ project, Diyanet says it aims to spread the message of Quran to people in all corners of the world.

Diyanet had translated the Quran in several other languages before, acting on requests from different countries.

It has accelerated its efforts with plans to publish the Quran in German, French, Russian and Persian.

The Persian translation ix expected to be ready this year.
