According to Dunya al-Watan website, 400 people from different parts of Morocco and a number of other countries will participate in the Quranic event.
It will be held for four days in two separate sections for men and women.
A number of senior Quran recitation experts will form the panel of judges.
12 top winners in each section will be awarded different prizes, including Umrah pilgrimage packages, at the closing ceremony.
The youngest and oldest participants will also be honored at the ceremony.
Morocco’s Communications and Social Development Society organizes the contest annually.
Tajweed refers to the rules governing pronunciation during recitation of the Quran.
The term is derived from the triliteral root j-w-d meaning “to make well, make better, improve”.
