TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian Quranic official said the International Quran Competition for Muslim Students will probably be held concurrent with a number of other international Quran contests in Iran in April.

Speaking to the Quran Radio, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, said that, like in 2017, the International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the international Quran contests for women, seminary students and the visually-impaired will be held simultaneously.

The four contests are scheduled for April 19-26, 2018, according to previous announcements by the organizers.

Hojat-ol-Islam Hosseini added that the 6th edition of the International Quran Competition for Muslim Students is also likely to be held concurrent with the other contests in April.

The holy city of Mashhad, northeast of Iran, had been scheduled to host the 6th edition of the event on January 1-4, 2017, with the participation of 50 countries, but it was postponed for various reasons.

The Iranian Academics Quranic Activities Organization, affiliated to the Iranian Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), has organized the competition biannually since 2006 with the aim of promoting unity and cooperation among Muslim world students and elevating the level of Quranic activities.

The Milad Tower in Tehran hosted the 5th edition in January 2015.
