TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Quran radio of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates has produced special programs to be aired during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to an Emirati newspaper, "Ramadan; Rituals, Feelings and Customs” is the motto of this year’s programs.

The Radio channel will broadcast daily Quran recitations after the morning Adhan and Quran recitations by prominent Qaris at 10 a.m. local time.

Among other programs are Quran teaching at 4:30 p.m. and English Translation of Quran at 11 p.m.

The radio will also air live programs including "Sabah Al-Dhakirin”, "Jurisprudential issues of women”, "nourishment in the holy month of Ramadan”, Quran interpretation and Quran competition.

"Ramadaniat” is the title of a program in which religious questions of the listeners are answered.

The congregational night prayers at the UAE’s Grand Mosque of Sheikh Zayid will also be aired live.

Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar, starts on May 27 this year.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast as an effective way of practicing self-discipline. They are also expected to strengthen their character through self-restraint, charitable-giving and introspection.

Reading, reciting and contemplating the Holy Quran is also a major activity for Muslims during the holy month.
